Description:

Hockenberg Search is engaged on a retained search for an experienced Vice President of Quality to report to the President of a Twin Cities, MN company. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY PLEASE. We are seeking a Quality Manufacturing Executive who will thrive in a fast-paced, mid-sized privately-held company with talented ‘A-Team’ Senior Leaders who set the bar high for accountability and results. The company is well established International industry leader in the design and production of over 200 precision measurement instruments. This is an energizing career opportunity for an experienced Quality Manufacturing Executive to make a substantial impact in the company as part of their Growth Initiative to develop and implement total quality processes. This is a newly created position. Candidates must have demonstrated work experience in new product development in a discrete manufacturing environment with a BA in Engineering (or related field) to be considered for this opportunity.

Duties:

Job Summary:

Provide overall leadership to the Quality Control function and programs for the company.
Develop and implement total quality processes, policies, and procedures to improve operational practices, create customer satisfaction, and reduce cost. Establish procedures to verify that new products meet customer and internal requirements before manufacturing startup. Ensure that strategy is communicated throughout the organization. Responsible for auditing the organization's current process quality programs and planning strategic initiatives to ensure issues are successfully addressed and adhere to organizational goals.

Job Responsibilities:
• Oversee the development, modification, application, and maintenance of standards for quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures.
• Develop and coordinate the organization's total quality programs, raising employee awareness of total quality objectives
• Oversee the development and analysis of statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products. Work to address and remedy high-priority customer quality issues.
• Ensure supply base meets quality objectives and manage corrective actions to improve supplier quality.
• Serve as contact point with outside organizations, such as the International Organizations for Standardization (ISO), to stay current on national and global programs.
• Work with other department heads to ensure adequate training and quality management goals are continuously communicated.
• Incorporate Design for Reliability in new product development. Review DFMEA and MTTF analyses of engineering teams.
• This role has direct supervisory responsibilities for Quality Assurance and Control personnel within two companies. They will manage 4 direct reports.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this newly created position:

1. Education
-Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.

Desired
-Advanced Degree desirable

2. Experience
- Minimum of 15 years progressive experience, including broad systems and processes development and implementation in Quality Management.
- Demonstrated ability to make the Quality system come to life and be part of the fabric of the Company.
- Demonstrated experience in Lean manufacturing.
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing quality processes and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of DFMEA and DFR principles. Experience with HALT and HASS testing.
- Prior direct line (P&L, R&D, or operational) experience highly desirable.

3. Knowledge of quality management and improvement practices and programs such as Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, TQM, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO, etc.

4. Core Competencies:
