Description:

The Associate Storage Engineer is focused on the installation, implementation, and customer support tasks for a broad range of data storage products and services in Enterprise/Datacenter environments. Storage Engineer's will need to understand the customers' technical environment in order to deliver effective solutions. Typical customer technical environments include:
  • Operating Systems: Unix (Solaris, HP, etc.), Linux, or Windows server environments
  • Networking: Ethernet and Fibre Channel, routers, and switches
  • Storage: SAN (Storage Area Networking) or NAS (Network Attached Storage) environments

Additional Info:

  • Off hours work (nights and weekends) may be required.
  • Maintain flexibility to travel outside of the coverage area when required
  • Formal and Informal training towards certifications would be considered for a qualified candidate.

Duties:

Primary focus is on installation and implementation of data storage hardware and software. Will be required to interact and influence IT Customers and TSP technical team members, including presales, services, and support organizations. Impact extends to customer technical representatives including systems administrators and technical managers.

Qualifications:

Technology industry experience with moderate project planning, system installations, implementation, and excellent customer support is required. The candidate must have hands-on experience in the following areas:

WINDOWS: very good knowledge of NT, Win2K, Win2K3 system administration. Understand share and NTFS security concepts

UNIX: very good knowledge of Solaris, HP or Linux system administration concepts including disk and network administration

  • The individual must be well organized, a self-starter with strong follow-through and problem solving skills and posses strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, systems administrators and TSP management are a must
  • The ability to work with customers' technical representatives under a variety of circumstances to understand and meet customer expectations
  • Field Service experience
  • Network Appliance, HDS, and EMC Certifications
  • Knowledge of storage administration and the concepts of file systems, disk partitions, mounts, quotas, mirroring and sizing
  • Knowledge of NAS or SAN (iscsi or fabric attached architectures)
  • Windows Certifications
  • Networking Certifications (CCNA or CCIE)
  • A BS in Computer Science or related Technology Degree, --OR-- Technical Certifications plus 3-5 years of field service or related experience
